The art of screen printing

Screen printing is a craft built on patience and precision. Each colour is separated, layered, and pulled by hand one screen at a time. What looks seamless from afar is actually the result of dozens of deliberate decisions: paper choice, ink density, registration, pressure. It’s a process where detail matters, and where time becomes part of the artwork itself.

Collector's Questions Answered

Will the colours in my print last over time?

Ans. All screen prints are produced using Mastar inks on museum-grade fine art paper and all giclee prints ... When properly framed and kept out of direct sunlight, they are designed to retain their colour and detail for decades.

What's the difference between a screen print and a giclee print?

Ans. Giclée prints are high-resolution fine art reproductions created using archival inkjet technology, allowing for subtle tonal detail and painterly texture.

Screen prints are created by hand, with each colour individually layered through a stencil process. This gives them a slightly tactile, graphic quality and makes each edition feel more like an original object.

What makes prints collectible?

Ans. All limited edition prints are hand-signed and numbered. Edition sizes are kept intentionally small to maintain collectability and ensure each piece retains its sense of rarity over time.

Collectability is often influenced by the size of the edition, the materials used, and whether the work is signed by the artist. Smaller edition sizes and archival production methods are generally preferred by collectors looking for long-term value.

Are limited edition prints considered original artworks?

Ans. Limited edition prints are not reproductions in the traditional sense. Each edition is produced in a strictly controlled quantity, hand-signed and numbered. Once an edition sells out, no further prints are made, which helps preserve rarity and collectability.

Are your screen prints made by hand?

Ans. Yes — screen prints are created through a manual layering process, with each colour applied individually. This gives each work a distinct physical presence and subtle variations that are not present in digitally produced reproductions.

Do your prints come framed?

Ans. All prints are sold unframed. Framing options are available for most works on paper. Frames are made using conservation-grade materials, including acid-free backing and UV-protective glazing where possible.

How are the prints packaged and shipped?

Ans. Prints are either flat-packed with protective layers or rolled in heavy-duty art tubes. Original paintings are carefully wrapped using protective materials to ensure they arrive safely.
